While being one of the worst teams in the league and losing to one of your peers invites scrutiny, it doesn’t appear to be time for change in Minnesota. Vikings owner Zygi Wilf gave a somewhat vague statement of support for his staff after last night’s loss to the Giants. Asked if he planned to…

Ex-Viking Christian Ballard : NFL was no longer enjoyable

Yahoo! Sports

After a month of silence, Christian Ballard opened up Tuesday regarding the reason he walked away from the Minnesota Vikings in training camp.

The former defensive lineman told USA Today that he wasn’t enjoying life in the NFL anymore.

The revelation came less than a week after Ballard was arrested on suspicion of domestic battery following a dispute with his wife at their Lawrence, Kan., home, according to USA Today. The district attorney dropped the case without filing charges, the newspaper reported.

Ballard, 24, left the Vikings on Aug. 18 and married Victoria Hallenbeck less than two weeks later, according to USA Today.

Lions’ Ndamukong Suh takes a cheap shot on Vikings player

Yahoo! Sports

Detroit Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh is often viewed as the NFL’s dirtiest player.

During the Lions’ 34-24 win over the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, Suh showed there is a good reason why.

Vikings quarterback Christian Ponder attempted a pass to Jerome Simpson that was tipped by rookie cornerback Darius Slay on Sunday. Lions linebacker DeAndre Levy caught the ball and raced 33-yards for a touchdown, but that score was nullified because Suh was penalized for an illegal low block.

Packers thrash Ponder-less Vikings to advance in big Lambeau Field victory

Yahoo! Sports

The Green Bay Packers have been beset by injuries on both sides of the ball all season, and as a result, they’ve been the NFL s forgotten team when it came to ranking the best and brightest in the Super Bowl hunt. After Saturday night’s 24-10 wild-card win over the Minnesota Vikings, it might be time to take the packers a bit more seriously. The Pack showed that when their more important skill players are on the field, they’re still a very tough opponent.

Quarterback Aaron Rodgers had a mostly healthy receiver corps for a while in the game, and he hit 10 different targets as a result — everyone from established vets like Greg Jennings, James Jones, and Jordy Nelson, to new contributors like running back DaJuan Harris, who had 100 total yards and a rushing touchdown in a fine overall performance.

Mike McCarthy avoids Jim Schwartz’s fate in challenge flag snafu

Yahoo! Sports

A play in the pivotal Minnesota Vikings-Green Bay Packers game will end with football fans more confused about the NFL’s rules on coach challenges than they were before.

James Jones dove for the end zone. Just after he broke the plane of the end zone, Jones fumbled the ball. The Vikings recovered. The officials originally called it a fumble and Vikings ball.

Aaron Rodgers was incensed with this result, running to the sideline yelling. Packers coach Mike McCarthy threw the challenge flag, but receiver Jordy Nelson quickly ran over and picked the flag up and handed it back to his coach. Earlier this season, Detroit Lions coach Jim Schwartz and Atlanta Falcons coach Mike Smith both threw challenge flags on automatically reviewed plays — the result of which was that the plays were not reviewed and penalties were assessed.

Arian Foster’s young fan is worried about his heart, he uses Twitter to calm her fears

Yahoo! Sports

Houston Texans’ fans were understandably concerned when star running back Arian Foster left early during the team’s loss to the Minnesota Vikings with an irregular heartbeat. One young fan named Macie was so worried she made a sign for her favorite player, hoping that his heart felt better.

Five years ago, Macie’s sign would have made the family’s refrigerator or maybe could have been mailed to the Texans’ training facility. But thanks to Twitter, Foster got to see Macie’s concern for him right away. Macie’s father tweeted the picture to Foster, who quickly responded to his young fan.
