Sunday’s playoff game at Green Bay might be colder than famous ‘Ice Bowl,’ the coldest NFL game ever

Yahoo! Sports

The “Ice Bowl,” one of the most iconic games in NFL history, had a wind chill of minus-48 degrees. It’s almost inhuman to play football in that weather.

And Sunday’s game at Green Bay might be even colder than that.

According to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, the bad forecast for Green Bay’s game against the 49ers got worse. According to AccuWeather, the high will be minus-five degrees, the low will be minus-20 and the wind chill will be … MINUS-51 DEGREES.

No wonder Green Bay was having trouble selling out this game.

The legend of the waiting list for Packers season tickets in Green Bay has grown over the years. Newborns get put on the list, with parents hoping some day their offspring hits the top of the list.

Green Bay has perhaps the best fans in the NFL … which is why the league should be very worried that the Packers and two other teams are still struggling to sell out their playoff games.

Wisconsin players celebrate the Packers’ game-winning touchdown while one Bears fan teammate sulks

Wisconsin took some time out of its bowl preparation Sunday to check out the Green Bay Packers-Chicago Bears game, which was a duel for a playoff spot – winner went on to the postseason, the loser went home.

So, it was no surprise that most of the Wisconsin players were glued to the television as the Packers trailed 28-27 with less than a minutes remaining.

That was, however, until Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers found a wide-open Randall Cobb open 48 yards down the field for the game-winning score.

Packers thrash Ponder-less Vikings to advance in big Lambeau Field victory

Yahoo! Sports

The Green Bay Packers have been beset by injuries on both sides of the ball all season, and as a result, they’ve been the NFL s forgotten team when it came to ranking the best and brightest in the Super Bowl hunt. After Saturday night’s 24-10 wild-card win over the Minnesota Vikings, it might be time to take the packers a bit more seriously. The Pack showed that when their more important skill players are on the field, they’re still a very tough opponent.

Quarterback Aaron Rodgers had a mostly healthy receiver corps for a while in the game, and he hit 10 different targets as a result — everyone from established vets like Greg Jennings, James Jones, and Jordy Nelson, to new contributors like running back DaJuan Harris, who had 100 total yards and a rushing touchdown in a fine overall performance.

Mike McCarthy avoids Jim Schwartz’s fate in challenge flag snafu

Yahoo! Sports

A play in the pivotal Minnesota Vikings-Green Bay Packers game will end with football fans more confused about the NFL’s rules on coach challenges than they were before.

James Jones dove for the end zone. Just after he broke the plane of the end zone, Jones fumbled the ball. The Vikings recovered. The officials originally called it a fumble and Vikings ball.

Aaron Rodgers was incensed with this result, running to the sideline yelling. Packers coach Mike McCarthy threw the challenge flag, but receiver Jordy Nelson quickly ran over and picked the flag up and handed it back to his coach. Earlier this season, Detroit Lions coach Jim Schwartz and Atlanta Falcons coach Mike Smith both threw challenge flags on automatically reviewed plays — the result of which was that the plays were not reviewed and penalties were assessed.
